The Ice cave is a cave formed by movement of the earth which opens up a hole in the ground, during winter snow falls into the cave and becasue of its unique geological structure can stay frozen all through the summer. We did not see snow again this year but it was pretty cool in the cave - dry to I might add which did not really help since the walk back to the car was long and unprotected from the rain.
When we got back to the tents after the walk we decided to go into Wurtsboro for dinner, rather than attempt to cook in the rain, by the time we got back again the rain had stopped and we were albe to relight our fire...all was warm and dry again!

This is the door to the Ice Cave, the purpose of the door is to keep the heat out in summer. Usually the cave would be sealed at this point, so they put the door there instead.
