The Zoo

We gave the pool a miss on Friday and went instead to the Bronx Zoo, although we have membership (of course) I have avoided going again since the first time was so incredibly busy I was quite put off. J has made a friend at the pool called DJ and we were invited by his Grandma to join them for the day. So off we went. I was pleasantly suprised, it was not busy at all, it was a great day. We did get caught in a thunderstorm about 4.30 and we had really (really) bad traffic on the way home(35 minutes to do 1/2 a mile (so a 20 min drive became almost an hour). But the overall impression was a good day out and we are keen to go again soon and see the rest of the African exhibit ("the giraffes are so awesome" M said).

We visited lots of exhibits, the butterfly house was impressive as always. The chn then took turns to 'become' buterfly's and a bumblebee, we sat for a while at looked at the huge gold fish, did a few rides on the bug carrosel, rode on the chairlift and did loads of walking.

In the new Madagascar Exhibit we saw Leemurs (who like to Move It) - M was pretty certain he was able to identify King Julian. We also saw an infestation of huge cockroaches - oh yeah - and M came face to face with a Fossa - "The Fossa are comming..they disturb our parties, chase us around and rip of our limbs, thats it pretty much" (well that is as close to the Fossa report from King Julian as we can remember). The photos don't really do the exhibt justice, it was pretty cool and particularly so since we are BIG Madagascar fans.

This is a photo of a very tiny frog - would fir on a 10cent piece, it was so tiny I did not think it was real.
