M had to get up a little earlier than he is used to to open his presents before daddy went to work, he looks a little tired but soon rallied and had lots of fun, assisted by his big brother.

We celebrated M's party at the Greenburg Nature Centre. We have been members there since a week or so after we arrived here in NY. It is so cool, featured many times in blogs past and a popular place for us to take visitors. M was able to choose 5 animals which were then brought into the room and presented to the children one at a time. They had the chance to touch and interact with each one and learned loads about them too.
Here the birthday boy poses with some of his friends.

The Dove sat on M's arm after having a little fly around the room, it was very cool. M learned that pigeons are actually Rock Doves and he has delighted in telling lots of people that fact ever since.

This is Irwin, he belongs to jennifer and when she came into the room she pretended she had lost an animal, the children thought it quite funny to see Irwin "hiding" on her back. He was a huge hit with every one.

The children got to feed the ginea pig lettuce leaves and even have a little tug of war with her. Her name was June and she usually has very long hair, but they trim her so that she stays a little cleaner.

One of our favourite critters at the Nature Centre is the Chinchilla, they are so very cute and incredibly soft, aparently they have up to 8 hair folicles in a pore. Some times you can hardly feel that you are touching it.

The Blue Tongue Lizard, quite a big fellow, was very popular. Jennifer showed the children where they could 'tickle' him to make him walk and stick out his blue tounge. I did not feel liek tickling the one who managed to find himslef under the refridgerator once!

The calm before the storm. Actually the children were all lovely and very well behaved, extremely polite and a great pleasue to have with us.

Travis popped in to show us the Great Horned Owl, she was lovley and had her eye on the birthday cake!!

Back home at the end of the day M opened the presents from his friends. He was very dissapointed that he did not have time to do it at the party and that his friends missed out on seeing the presents. He has been enjoying playing with them all nonetheless.

M's best buddy S was unable to make it to the party, so we had a special dinner for the boys here. M loved seeing his mate and every one loved the choclated iced banana cake.
