One of the classes previouly had been a baking for social change class where the group made food and sold it for a few cents - they raised enough for 4 Kiva loans of $25- and a donation to a tree planting charity. For family day they decided to bake ans sell deserts, I made some chocolate cupcakes with choc icing, and a banana cake to add to the sale. Of course I brought home over half the banana cake but all the cupcakes sold - interesting! They made enough for 2 more Kiva loans which is pretty cool.
Now for a shameless plug - if you have not heard of Kiva please check out their website. http://www.kiva.org/ we have a Kiva load which is almost half repaid. My intention is to add some to these repayments and make another loan...you can of course take your money back again when it is paid, and you have in reality donated nothing but perhaps a few cents you would have earned in interest. The minimum load is $25- but you can loan more if you wish - of course! Thanks for taking the time to have a look at Kiva.
One of J's classes was 'Challenge' where they had to make things out of rubish, recyclables or items from nature. She loved it, made all sorts of adorable things which ended up in our recycling bin eventually :-) but at least it stretched her imagination and problem solving skills.

One of W's classes was Stream Explorers, we spent alot of time at the stream examining macroinvertibrates but also had time to create these clay models of watersheds.

J picking flowers, you can actually eat these and they are not too bad.

Girls dissapearing amongst the plants and flowers.

Children Playing.

D went with the children, most of the dads and some of the mums on a hike through the Great Hollow property.

As soon as the hikers got to the river, there was no keeping most of them dry! Lucky for us it was a rare warm day and they dried off nicely in the sun.

Some views of the Great Hollow Property.
