We, well I! decided to book all three Shakespeare performances at Boscobel (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival) this year and then decided we'd be best off with a preview package - the cheapest prices for the entire festival. This meant however, 3 Shakespeare plays in 6 days - quite a marathon effort for us grown ups let alone the smallest family members. One other familiy decided to join us for the 3 shows and 3 other families joined us for the Taming of the Shrew performance.
It was AWESOME and I don't think you neccessarily have to be a great fan of olde Will to appreciate what they do here. Bombitty of Errors was a rap version of Commedy of Errors and was very funny and very clever. The Taming of the Shrew was set in the 60s and juxtaposed the feminism of the times with the sexism of the play. Troilus and Cressida (our least favourite Shakespeare play so far) was ok but the play itself is not one of his better ones and leaves us wondering what he was really trying to achieve with this version of the story.
We were able to picnic on two of the nights and the weather on all three was supurb - so lucky and so much better than the weather last June.
