We stayed at the Dupont Hotel on Dupont Circle for the first night in DC. Army had asked the COl at the consulate in NY to give a presentation on the UN - he was unavailable and asked D to do it. Because he was now attending the conference in an official capacity for one hour, they agreed to a hotel room for one night. The location is one of the best in DC, however the traffic around Dupont Circle has to be as bad as the worst traffic situation any where in the world and the car horns blurted all night. At 12am the alarm sounded, in the struggle to unplug the alarm we all woke, to fall back to sleep and be awaken numerous times by the car horns, then had the increased degree of difficulty that comes wiht a double bed - arms and knees everywhere and that was just me :-). We were happy to be moving on to our dear friends the following day.
Catching up on our favourite books.

Me and my darlings at the Dupont Circle fountain.

The view from our hotel.

We had dinner at a lovely Asian Fusion restaurant - check out J's plate of sushi - and then had a nice walk around the town to a little creek and back to the hotel for bed.

Union Station. The fountain has a statue of Christopher Columbus after whom the District of Columbia is named and represents the new world. A statue of a Native American who represents the old world. Union Station when it was built was the biggest train staion in Nth America.
