Back in December the children and I bought an Ant Farm, we hardly see ants around in the winter so I decided to send the $4 away and buy some ants. I had begun to think I'd be harvesting my own any way and that it had been foolish to trust Uncle Milton with my $4 when....they arrived in the mail today. We read all about them, they are Western Harvester ants. Non breeding, it is illegal to send queens through the mail aparently. New word - Thorax.
Here they are sitting on the top of the gel, recovering after their ordeal in the mail and their 10 or so minutes in the fridge - just to make sure they were rendered completely incapable of attacking us :-)
