Contacts

Our darling girl has had a dream come true. A few months ago her optomertrist suggested that we think about contact lenses. Since it was before the summer and I did not want to have to worry about them and travelling and swimming I said we would consider it at the end of the summer. Well, when we returned for a follow up visit she mentioned it again, J was so excited and so badly wanted to try them I said that we would. She was bursting for a week waiting for the appointment to practice fitting them and when the day arrived she was so cool. The staff at the optomertrist and the doctor were suprised and impressed at how quickly and calmly she managed to put the lenses in and take them out again - she had to do it four times in the office. By the end, her eyes were a little red and teary but she was a very happy girl. Since then we have completed almost a week of gradually increasing the time the lenses spend in her eyes, today is up to 8 hours. She is managing completely on her own, we are very impressed and so pleased for her that she does not have to wear her glasses ALL the time now. The benefit to her vision should be that she gets to see peripherally as well as straight ahead, glasses are fine for reading and straight ahead work but as soon as you look anywhere but straight ahead you loose the benefit of the glasses. The benefit emotionally is (was so underestimated by me 4 months ago) infinate. Check her out below.
