Oh, the house. Well I think it has 13 rooms, at least it did before Mr LL (land lord) annexed one or two for storage. Can't complain too loudly though because I don't think we could have furnished them any way.
We have a huge bedroom, it could house a family of 4 for years before they found each other. We have a little annex that houses the aforementioned fire place. Our lovely furniture Rental Lady (FRL) gave us two chairs for the extra space. We have a KING SIZE BED, 6 ft square and about 4 foot high, imagine the princess and the Pea - we need a ladder to get onto our bed, so funny Mr M, said "Mummy you and Daddy won't be able to get down from your bed".
The 'formal'lounge has a lovely creamy coloured suite and dark wooden tables, lovley lamps - this is the room with the real fire place and temporary (so Doug says) home of the "tea cart" that FRL included in our furniture package as a little suprise. It is outragous and I will probably never be aloud to have one at home, so I guess it stays...pride of place in the Lounge room.
the 'formal' dining room has a server! a hutch (did order that) and a lovely table for up to 8 people, we have another leaf so could fit 10...how fun. Right now I can not put anything on it until it is actually safely covered by a very think cloth...
the 'eat in kitchen' (on real estate docs it will be represented as 'EIK' for your future knowledge when renting houses in the US). We have a 6 seater table - oh and a lovely Kitchen it is. I have, pause for effect....2 ovens, a gass cooktop with 5 burners, a SSteel fridge (that makes ice and cold water - well, it will once Mr LL replaces the water filter)and wait for it Granite Bench tops...My world is complete.
The three chn have their own rooms with bunk beds, incorporating desk, draws and a book shelf. They love them and are spending their first night in them as I type.
The 5th bedroom as a pretty basic queen with tables lamps and dresser.
As you can see we are set up for visitors, though just now you would have to bring your own linnen, give me a week or two to sort that out.
the Family room has a TV, big cabinet and dark green suit, so this is the room that the children can inhabit with us, watch movies together etc.
the play room is a little sparse, we do have another TV on a tiny little cabinet, a toy box, small desk and a fold up table. The Play room is the basement and it is nice to have a house with a finished basement. I saw lots of basements that reminded me of American horror movies, creaky stairs, single light bulb, fernace in the distance chugging away, concrete, dark and dank...scary. The laundry is always in the basement, eeek.
We have a creek runing through the front yard with a little bridge over it, the children like to throw their twigs in and watch them go under the bridge (somewhere downstream there are hundreds of little twigs blocking the creek!!!).
We live on quite a busy road but are set well back. Mr D has a 15 min walk to the train. We got into the school that we wanted with the New Zealand family - who are lovley by the way and have been instrumental in our settling in, as have the wonderful P family who have taken such fabulous care for us.
So that is the house. oh i forgot to mention the spa in the ensuite with flashing lights, the ensuite in miss J's room and the other 2 complete bathrooms!!! oh, the cleaning.
I promise some photos as soon as I can.
