We drove down to Carlisle on Friday 2nd July and spent the 3rd hanging out with them, then on the 5th we all drove to Falling Water, a Frank Llyod Wright house about 3 hours from their house towards Pittsburg PA.
Then we went to a camp gound in Ohio Pyle State Park where we set up our tents and spent a very pleasant night.
The next day we visited another Frank Lloyd wright house called Kentuck Nob, Fort Ligonier, Johnstown Incline Plane Railway and the flight 93 memorial. It was a busy lots of driving couple of days but very very good.
Finally to top off our weekend the 5 of us went to Hershey Park for the 3rd and probably final time. I organised a group booking again this year so we had free tickets which is a huge saving. It was about 38C so we spent nearly the entire day at the water park and did not really appreciate how hot it was until we had to walk with bare feet on the concrete or until we finally left and entered the rest of the park where the reflected hear from the pavement was painful.
The children are all old enough to ride the vomittron (I mean Howler) without adult supervision, how nice to not have to spend the next hour trying to keep my stomach in place!!
This is one of our favourite features of the water park, the bucket slowly fills and then a horn sounds and a few seconds later the buckets tips, inundating those below with water. One of the differences between a water park in PA and one in (or dare I say The Bahamas - hee hee) is that the water in PA does not seem to warm up much (although it is still early in the summer) and the water in Florida is usually a little warmer. So even on a 38C day we were still cold every now and again.
Unfortunately I don't have many photos, none of camping and none of Kentuck nob nor the other places, I forgot to take the batery charger and the batery in the camera went flat very soon after arrival, we borrowed SMM's camera for Hershey Park but it did not work well for most of the photos and others have me in swimmers....not a sight for public display I am afraid.
